Counselling for family members and loved ones

When someone you love is struggling with mental health issues, addiction, ADHD, or other challenges, the impact on you can be profound. You might feel worried, frustrated, helpless, guilty, or exhausted from trying to help. Perhaps you’re walking on eggshells, losing yourself in their problems, or carrying resentment alongside your love and concern.

Counselling for family members and supporters gives you a confidential space that’s just for you. This isn’t about fixing them or learning how to manage their behavior – it’s about processing your own feelings, setting healthy boundaries, understanding your patterns, and finding ways to care for yourself while supporting someone you love.

I have lived experience supporting family members through addiction, ADHD, PMDD, and mental health challenges. I understand the complex mix of emotions that comes with loving someone who’s struggling. I offer support online throughout the UK and in person in Bedford for partners, adult children, parents, siblings, and friends navigating these situations.

This counselling can help if you’re supporting someone with:

  • Addiction or substance misuse
  • ADHD or other neurodivergence
  • Mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Chronic health conditions affecting mental wellbeing

What we explore in sessions:

  • Your feelings of worry, anger, guilt, or grief
  • Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries
  • Understanding codependency and enabling patterns
  • Processing the impact on your own wellbeing
  • Navigating relationships and communication
  • Finding balance between supporting others and caring for yourself

Why not take the next step?

If any of this resonates with you, I’m here for a free initial Zoom call. This first contact will usually last around twenty minutes. It gives us a chance to get a sense of each other and to chat through what you’re looking for.

Then, if we feel we’d be a good fit you can book in a session. When you email or telephone to arrange this I will get back to you as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours.
